UberCam 3.0 For those of you paying attention to our posts, as you may have noticed, we are now full on officially in UberCam 3.0 Development phase with testing now being done internally. As we stated  in  an  earlier  post  this  past  weekend, UberCam development is proceeding with version 3.0 This is surely to be welcomed by the hundreds of users out there who have been patiently waiting for an update for full compatibility to LightWave 3D 2018 and above. The wait will certainly be worth it but just to give you an idea of how much even at this phase the new UberCam 3.0 is compared to previous versions, check out the Code Map of UberCam’s Base Camera complexity. As you can see from the image below, there is a big leap between UberCam 2.0 and 2.6 which is understandable considering how much went into the development process completing with the 2.6 cycle. While the “leap” doesn’t seem to be there in terms of the width of the chart from 2.6 to 3.0, what you have to understand which is reflected in the chart itself is just how much is different. Meaning, it’s nearly a complete and total rewrite at this point with very little being pulled from previous versions in terms of code. The reason? Well, a couple of things. The biggest obvious part is the changes from the 2015.x and previous versions of LW code base and the new 2018 and beyond code base with respect to the new way LightWave3D does things since the replacement of the shader, rendering and camera code internally inside of LightWave3D itself was done by the LightWave3D Group development team. This code base is now considered stabilized which means we can proceed in full without much grief. So much of that code change work done by the development team of LightWave3D impacts UberCam that in no uncertain terms, a near full re-write was required just on that reasoning alone. However the not so obvious stuff represented in the chart comes down to efficiencies in the code for UberCam 3.0 going forward which is beyond previous versions by far. Chilton and Kat are dealing with this initial beta testing internally and we should have the first batch of cameras made available in UberCam 3.0 ready for a small amount of UberCam Beta Testers. We will keep you posted on that. Meanwhile, Kat and the newly formed LightForms.cc Group LLc.,  along with Chilton here and there, plus some new and old friends making up the development and business teams, are working steadily towards something that will be a massive game changer for LightWave3D and specifically end users.  We are just weeks away from launching this. We have to keep a tight lid on it for a bit though, but it really will require some solid testers. We will be reaching out to some of our friendly power users as well as users who are new to LightWave3D we have been keeping an eye on as candidates for this project to go through beta testing as well. This project is actually pretty far along and has been in development not just for the last 6 or so months when Kat started the LightForms.cc project officially, but for over a DECADE. Yup, that’s right. Over a decade. And portions of it have been in use for at least that amount of time on literally tens of thousands of projects or productions around the world. Some of it is extremely cutting edge and most certainly can be considered straight away as more “industry first” level type stuff. But you know what? That’s what LightWaver’s want and indeed need. A mix of the new, the tried and trusted methods and functionality of the old, linked together through solid bridges that moves as fast as light. And that’s just the start.  There is so much going on behind the scenes at Liberty3d.com and our associated companies and enterprises as a whole that to lay it all down for you here would take pages. So we will keep it to those basics for now. This summer has been very busy for everyone at Liberty3d.com with part of our team having just completed the VFX work (all LightWave3D and Fusion!) for a feature film, and while some of us are taking a moment to rest, we are resting up to hit the ground running and keep going. We hope that this has also been so for our friends and customers around the world as prosperity continues to grow for all. If not, we want to hear from you. Tell us about your skills, your desire to work and we will do our best to connect you with productions and producers who need quality work done. That’s the least we can do. We have several new releases of product out now with many more awesome tutorials and product coming very soon. So make sure to learn up, check out the deals in the store and get ready for some really big things coming down the pipe.
