Over the holidays we all missed Larry very much. However his wife Camilla has begun transferring to Liberty3d.com all of his videos including ones that he was working on at the time of his passing. This is a lot of information and the download is still going with 40 odd GB to go. But at least it is on it way. Once we have the videos we will be going through them and releasing them one at a time or several at a time here on Liberty3d.com for the LightWave 3DRead More
Render Presets For LightWave3D

Render Presets is a plugin written by Johan Steen in Python for LightWave 3D that has caught our attention and for good reason. Here is an excerpt from his site. “Originally created when working on a project that had me switching between a couple of different rendering settings for the same scenes over and over again. The initial iteration only contained the settings I switched between then, but for the public release most of LightWave’s common render settings are included. More settings might be added in the future whenRead More

Digital Domain going down.

Once an incredibly powerful VFX company, originally founded by James Cameron in the early 90s – Digital Domain had for years been at the forefront of film, TV and game graphics(cinematic cut scenes) work. A few years back they tossed out LightWave3D from all operations and went to a completely “Maya/Houdini/Nuke” pipeline. Now they are on the the brink of bankruptcy. Â You know those tools that everyone says are awesome and you have to learn and use if you want a “job” in this industry?? Well guess what – Â theyRead More

Fracturing without plug-ins or LW11!

SplineGod (Larry Shultz) never ceases to amaze. Here is a great tutorial series in 3 parts that show you how to bust up a piece of geometry and then use endomoprhs to control its “shattering”. While we very much encourage you to get LightWave 11 (because it rocks!) for those of you who haven’t upgraded yet, Larry gets into some interesting ways and techniques you can use to produce similar effects that you would need Fracture and or Bullet to get if you are not a HardFX expert. This isRead More
D. Drexler and others pull out of Space Command

I am not going to speculate on the reasons why Doug Drexler and others associated with the VFX creation for Space Command have distanced themselves from the project, some rumored to have pulled out all together. I will take them at their word as Doug and others have stated online via facebook and youtube that it’s really about creative differences. My only concern is that this was a LightWave show and we need more LightWave shows out there. Having had the privilege of working with Doug on BSG from 2005 to 2007,Read More
